This is Im Yoona.

She was not feeling well during the performances, most noticeably during Soshified fan meeting. She still performed. The number of times I saw her stumble or lose energy on stage, was the same number of times my heart broke. Nothing pulled my heartstrings more than seeing any of the girls trying their hardest despite their fatigue. And Yoona did it, multiple times.

Her ankle was not in the right condition. It must have been hurting. I too hurt myself once at the ankle for silly reasons, and I could barely put my weight onto one feet without wincing and stopping my activities. But Yoona, she carried on with the performance.

That downward split that had everyone raving? She did it all the same, but of course with less vigour. Next she had to stand for her rapping portion of the bridge, and she almost lost her balance. The disoriented look on her face matched the strickened one on mine. I was so worried for her.

But at the end of the day, she completed the performance. After all, she is the one and only Im Yoona. The girl who is perfect in sones’ eyes and yet she can’t see her own perfection. The girl who strives for improvement all the time and her efforts paid off. We all know how astounding she did with her part in The Boys.

I doubt Yoona wants our pity, or us making excuses for her. People who can’t see that she’s injured and make use of this opportunity to hurt her with words are only blind and unfeeling. She performed fully, because she wants us to say 역시 임욘아. She wants sones to acknowledge her efforts, and I am going to do just that. I will be concerned for her as a fan, and I will wholeheartedly wish for her speedy recovery.

I believe in Yoona, because she is after all, the one and only Im Yoona.
